Deadend Shrednecks Intro

David and I formed the “Deadend Shrednecks” in March 2026 and got the idea because we live on a deadend street. We started this band in memory of John Berlin and is dedicated to him. We wanted to learn some of our favorite songs we all used to listen to together. We're hoping to bring some good memories to people, as a lot of the bands we listened to provided so many core memories to us.

We’re going to start out as a cover band mainly covering favorites from genres like thrash metal (think Municipal Waste/ Iron Reagan), sludge metal (Eyehategod, Thou, and The Body), grindcore (AxCx, Agoraphobic Nosebleed), stoner and doom metal (The Sword, Weedeater Pallbearer, Bongzilla, bongripper, monolord, elder, etc) American death metal (Dying Fetus), and more along these lines. Maybe in the future we will start cranking out our own music.

We’re currently looking for a drummer to join the band.

Our husky Bandit is only specializing in vocals at this time.

Being in Surry, we’re about an hour from Richmond/ Norfolk/ Va beach- which obviously has a lot of bands come through… but out here in the sticks, not really.. so that’s why we started the band. We want to share some different music with people around our area that don’t want to travel. Plus, it might offer something cool to do around here.

Hi, my name is Lizzie Soles and I live in Surry, VA. I’m an artist, writer, avid reader, music nerd, vinyl collector, mediocre musician, farmer, and majored in Biophysical Science (chemistry/ biology/ physics) with a minor in Criminal Justice. I also love hunting, gardening, fishing, foraging, and basket weaving (anything that contributes to self-survival).

Neurosis band merch

I love Neurosis and they actually cranked out a new album this year. The first album I listened to was Through Silver in Blood. They were pivotal in the post/doom metal scene, influencing a ton of bands (too many to list).

What’s been goin on the past few weeks? We got a couple more songs by The Sword down pact with vocals and we feel pretty good about them.  I’m working on memorizing the last few minutes of Gnaw. David still trying to teach me how to do successful bends because if they’re even a tad bit flat, he loses his mind a bit lol. “YOU HAVE TO BEND IT MORE LIZZIE!”

Godspeed You! Black Emperor

I started listening to Godspeed around the age of 13. My birthday present from Dad that year was a green iPod nano (that I still have) preloaded with 8g of postrock and postmetal. Their albums on there:  F#A# infinity - whole album is good- obviously dead flag blues was great.
